Dawson Edwards - Fine Artist

A Fine Art student, Dawson's ceramic journey has its roots in his teenage years spent doing Drama. The stories he acted out and would read about quickly inspired him to begin to illustrate them. Although he still likes to do a variety of artwork, such as photography and sketching, over the past year he has channelled his creativity and emotions into designing and sculpting things with his hands.

For Dawson, getting to physical grips with the material is far more important than envisioning the final result, by sketching it out beforehand. Because, he says, it is only once you get your hands dirty moulding the clay that you truly begin to create it. Indeed, much like his experience as an amateur actor, the process by which he creates his pottery is akin to an improvised play.
