Presenting the voice and works of Anum Farooq:
Some things are so fragile They crumble silently away
Gently dissipating
Rain drop falling from the sky
Without reaching the earth, it evaporates
The butterfly wings a delicate beauty
Gently torn by wounds, no longer existing
Some things seem so strong of tensile strength
Yet they crumble, no sign
No forewarning
Gently and it is all gone
A fading smile, sorrow in her eyes
A guiding strength, poignant like a whisper
Within us, a million winds
The search is over
The searcher sleeping ever so peacefully.
The accompanying image is Emily Tull's work that also explores ideas of fragility. Hand-stitched portrait on muslin, hessian, cotton and polyester.
