It was late spring 2023 and the new arts café, Hybrid, was hosting a music and drinks event in my local town of Neath. So, being a massive fan of red wine – sorry, I mean, music and the arts - I naturally felt inclined to attend. The county of Neath Port Talbot is rich in history and the arts and can boast the existence of a Roman Fort dating back to the second century, as well as being the birthplace of actors such as Richard Burton, singers like Katherine Jenkins and artists like Andrew Vicari. Yet these achievements are consistently overlooked in a place that has been grieving the loss of industrial prowess since the 1980s - so it is great to see a new arts focused venue in town.
